At the end of the year 2023, TLC Jiutian Education Foundation once again entered into the Fazi stream to hold an annual river cleaning activity. In this lively environmental protection activity, we hope to calm down our minds and realize the importance of resource recycling for community. In order to strengthen local community links, this year the TLC Jiutian Foundation specially invited residents who lived neighborhood in Yongan community and Fuyali community to participate. Among total 115 people who participated, about half were from local community in the Fazi River Basin. This clean stream action is not only an environmental protection activity for picking up garbage, but also an implement for local environmental protection. Everyone worked together to not only clean up the garbage by the stream, but also implant the concept of environmental protection into the local community residents. Community residents who participated in the stream cleanup for the first time mentioned that when they looked into the stream from the ashore, they did not feel that there was any garbage. However, when they actually went down to the river, they discovered that there was so much garbage, which drifted with the river to the shore and even the ocean. Some of garbage comes from drifting, but most is caused by random disposal by humans. The reason why TLC Jiutian Education Foundation actively invites people from local community is mainly to awaken people’s awareness of keeping garbage not fall to the ground and reducing waste to protect the environment. A staggering as 258.2 kilograms of garbage were picked up during this stream cleanup activity. Although this is a substantial manifestation of our concern for the environment, it also reflects the garbage problem in the river basin. There is still a lot of room for efforts to improve the public’s concept of environmental protection and ecological conservation.
But what is most impressive is that many families participated with their lovely children, which became the highlight of the event. The children actively participated in garbage clean-up with enthusiasm for environmental protection. Through personal participation, they not only learned how to care for the environment, but also cultivated the spirit of teamwork in the process of cleaning up garbage. This is a valuable educational opportunity for children to learn to care about the environment from an early age and use practical actions to lay the foundations for future environmental education.
At the opening of the event, Chairman Xiao of the Foundation shared his belief in environmental protection with an inspiring speech, calling on everyone to work together to do their part for the environment. He said that through this stream cleaning action, we are not only cleaning up garbage, but also protecting our home and protecting the environment for future. Chairman Xiao firmly believes that every participant’s contribution is their love for the environment and their commitment to the next generation. Since its establishment, the foundation has been adhering to the purpose of promoting environmental protection and caring for the community, and strives to integrate environmental protection concepts into all aspects of life. By organizing ecological education and environmental protection activities, we hope to arouse more people’s environmental awareness, promote environmental protection actions in the community, and achieve a sustainable lifestyle.
And then the vice president of the Wilderness Conservation Association and his partners gave an in-depth explanation of the environmental waste problems faced by Fazi River. They shared their knowledge about environmental protection and ways to practice sustainable living. In particular, he emphasizes the principle of “Reduce at source, Recyclable and Reusable “, calling on everyone to pay more attention to reducing the use of disposable products in daily life, choosing reusable items to reduce the burden of the environment.
